La Vall de Laguar is located in the district of La Marina Alta, which is in the province of Alicante. La Marina runs from the coast (Costa Blanca) to the interior, a synthesis of the two fundamental elements of Mediterranean geography: mountains and sea.
The mountain ranges that surround are the Sierra de la Carrasca, del Migdia and del Penyo.
Accessed from Alicante and Valencia via the A7 Motorway, after approximately 90 km you exit the motorway at Denia and head for Ondara. As you leave the busy, touristic, developed coastline of Spain and approach the mountains there is a sense of stillness and peace.
Passing through Orba, you start to ascend a bendy road, after 2,5 km you will pass Fontilles, a beautiful valley filled with countless fountains of purifying water, the sanitarium there has been used for years to treat and cure leprosy.
Continuing up you will come to the first village, Campell, then almost immediately after, Fleix where the Town Hall is located, and 2 km further up is Benimaurell, the highest village. The road continues over the mountain passing beautiful stone houses set in the mountain and down over the other side eventually leading to Castell de Castells and Benigembla and crossing the river Jalon or Gorgos which runs from Vall d’Alcala to Javea.
